Plex lets you install channels, in order for you to be able to get interesting content. You can also enjoy your media library collection, and there are options to do it even if you are not at home. Some of the channels let you listen to music from independent artists around the world, such as the Plex SoundCloud Channel. Others let you look at live TV streams; this is the case of the Plex FilmOn Channel.

What's New in Plex Server 1.0 Release?
This Plex Server release marks a split in Plex development, signalling that the Plex media server project has picked up to an extent previously unimagined by its developers. Because of this, there are many improvements, such as the use of opus for Chromecast instead of mp3 when transcoding music, as well as a change in Sync database format, and an update to Plex web, taking it to version 2.7.0. There are also several bugfixes in this version. Plex Server 1.0 is not supported anymore for use with Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and OS X 10.6/10.7. To better allocate resources across all platforms, Plex team ended the support and maintenance of versions prior to 1.0, in order to focus on bringing new features and enhanced stability to Plex media server.
